Application and Exam Information
The U.S. Postal Service is an equal opportunity employer. Applicants are hired
on the basis of their exam score.
*All applicants must take the required postal exam (Battery 470). Applicants for the position of
Rural Carrier Associate must now take the Battery 460 exam, which is identical to the Battery 470
exam. With the exception of part-time casual employees.
Please note:
- You will be ranked according to your exam score.
- All applicants will be placed on a list.
- The people with the highest exam scores are the ones that get interviewed first.
The
Postal Service requires that all applicants taking the
Battery 470 examinations meet the following
qualifications: (No educational
requirements).
- Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
- Note: an applicant may be 17 years of age
providing they have a high school diploma or
G.E.D.
- Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or legal
resident ( Green Card acceptable).
- Applicants must not have any felony convictions.
The Postal exam ( Battery 470) consist of
three written sections to the
examination.
- Number Series Test: You will
have only 20 minutes to complete the 24 questions
presented to you. Number series problems test your
ability to determine the next two numbers that
follow from a given sequence of seven numbers.
- Address Checking Test: This
test consist of 95 questions, you will have only 6
minutes to complete this test. This test is to
determine your ability to differentiate any
differences in address at a rapid speed.
- Memory For Address: The
third exam consist of 88 questions with only 5
minutes to complete it. it is a test of memory,
speed, and accuracy.

you in studying efficiently in order to pass the
required Battery 470 examination.

will need to know to pass the examination with the
highest exam score possible.
